More of what works, and less of what doesn’t.

Our Story

PTCC was designated non profit status in 2017 after Rachel and Josh decided to host events for veterans with PTSD with the vision of spreading hope and helping someone live that may have otherwise lost the battle with PTSD. Construction began in February of 2019, and The Hope Place opened it’s doors in August of 2019 with the purpose of healing and providing hope in such a way that was different than the personal experiences of the founders Josh and Rachel Terry.

Rachel Terry, MA, LPC-S is a licensed professional counselor in Mansfield, TX. She is the founder of The Hope Place, and Pine Trees Counseling Center. Her vision is to save lives.

Rachel and her husband have been married for over two decades and have 2 boys. After they were married, they decided together that her husband would join the Army. In 2004, he left for basic training, and in 2005 he was deployed to Iraq for 12 months. When he returned - he was not the same.

Often times you hear spouses of combat veterans report that although their husband physically returned, they sense that they didn’t mentally return. Rachel echoes this experience, and it sparked a curiosity in her. Through commitment, education, and trial and error she and her family developed ways to do more of what worked and less of what didn’t work.

Through her work she’s found that providing psych education, beauty, hope, and service to others brings her and her family the most joy.

Their family's vision is to use the latest in trauma research to develop sustainable, repeatable treatment for our nation's heros and the family members who hold them up when they're down through application of SFBT, ART, and animal therapy. Rachel wants to remind everyone, especially the family members, to notice what works and do more of it. If something didn't work, try something new until it does.

We invite you to donate to PTCC 501c3, so that we can continue to give treatment to those who answered the call.
