Our Vision

To live and grow in safe, empowered communities.

To identify as a nation that leaves no one behind after tragedy.

Effective, brief therapy is possible.

Our field has learned a lot about trauma treatment in the last decade, but the VA has not put it into practice.

It’s outdated and ineffective compared to current treatments.

Our Mission

To heal the servant leaders of our communities from the traumas they endure while protecting us.

We do this by providing our clients with mental health approaches that are shown to have higher outcomes and lower dropout rates as compared to treatments used by the VA.

We encourage treatment for the whole family - no one is left behind.

Our Values

We value and encourage

  • Removing barriers to treatment

  • Family Health and Wellbeing

  • Freedom, Hope, and Authenticity

Your Donation

For reasons of privacy and efficiency, we do not accept insurance.

Your donation removes one of the largest barriers to treatment for our nation’s heroes.

The Cost.

After contracting with our clients for a rate they can afford, your donation supports the remainder of the fee charged by the therapist.

Why do we do this? We encourage family health and wellbeing in our clients and in our therapists. A broke, burned out therapist is not a good therapist. A good therapist is worth their weight in gold, and our heroes should get nothing short of the best.

About PTCC

Pine Trees Counseling Center was born out of gratitude for the non profits that helped heal the founder’s family and the knowledge that our community deserves better.

A Word From Our Founder

There is a vast difference between someone’s character and their trauma symptoms. Trauma changes everything. It changes our bodies, our minds, our faith, our children, and our communities.
— Rachel Terry LPC-S

Our Founder and President, Rachel Terry LPC-S, is the proud wife of an Operation Iraqi Freedom combat veteran whom upon his return from combat in 2005, suffered from severe PTSD symptoms. She is intimately aware of how trauma changes a person. Shortly after her husband’s return from Iraq, she graduated with a bachelors in Psychology from Midwestern State University while her family was stationed in Lawton, OK.

She continued her studies at Texas Wesleyan in Fort Worth, TX after her husband was honorably discharged from the Army and received her Masters in Professional Counseling to become a licensed professional counselor. During her studies she traveled abroad to BREIF: The Centre for Solution Focused Practice Center in London where she practiced Solution Focused Therapy by some of the best in the world. Her experience shaped her perception of what trauma treatment SHOULD look like instead of what is currently offered.

While in her internship, her husband began treatment with the VA for PTSD and the nightmare that is trauma got worse. Her family experienced many of the things echoed by veteran families today. Months of wait times for appointments, missing medications, inaccurate reporting, and a lack of effective therapy approaches that wouldn't retraumatize and destabilize her husband. She began to enlist the outside help of non profits in her community for family support which filled the gap in treatments.

Today, she and her husband work together using their experience and education to support the efforts of Pine Trees Counseling Center.

“Wow! They have a gorgeous location and office, offer a therapy approach that helps you make progress even in just the FIRST session, and you can't beat the small animal therapy (goats!)”

— E.C
